Membership:

The Association shall consist of the following categories of membership. Except for Student Members, Institutional Members, and Associate (Session) members, all other members shall possess a degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university, or such other qualifications and experience as may be approved by the Executive Committee.

  1. Founder members:
    Those who are present at the inaugural meeting shall be recognized as Founder Members of SLAAN.
  2. Life members:
    Those who have paid the Life Membership fee and are accepted by an Annual General Meeting of the Association.
  3. Regular members:
    Those who have paid the prescribed Annual Membership fee and are approved by the Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be admitted as Life Members.
  4. Institutional members:
    Academic, commercial, industrial, research, or other organizations involved in animal breeding and husbandry, feed production, research, or use of laboratory animals, as may be approved from time to time by the Executive Committee, shall be eligible for Institutional Membership. An Institutional Member in good standing shall be entitled to nominate two representatives and receive such benefits as may be determined by the Executive Committee in accordance with the By-Laws, but shall not have voting rights.
  5. Student members:
    Persons who are engaged in full-time or part-time education leading to a relevant qualification, and who are deemed suitable by the Executive Committee of the Association, shall be eligible for this category. Upon payment of a reduced subscription as determined by the Executive Committee, such members shall be entitled to receive benefits as may be prescribed by the Executive Committee in accordance with the By-Laws, but shall not have voting rights.
  6. Associate (Session) members:
    Persons who have shown an interest in the aims and objectives of SLAAN and are registered at an Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be considered as Associate (Session) Members. Upon payment of a registration fee as determined by the Executive Committee, such members shall be entitled to receive such benefits as may be prescribed by the Executive Committee in accordance with the By-Laws, but shall not have voting rights.
  7. Honorary Fellow members:
    Persons of distinction in Animal Nutrition in Sri Lanka or abroad, who have made significant contributions to the advancement of Animal Nutrition, may be nominated by the Executive Committee and elected as Honorary Fellow Members at an Annual General Meeting of the Association.

Approval of membership: All membership applications shall be subject to approval by the Executive Committee, with final confirmation granted at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
